Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Abhay Phalswal, an individual based in India, who makes DRI Backup Buddy ("the app", "we", "us"). By buying, installing or using the app you agree to them.

1. Buying a licence

Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, who act as the merchant of record: they take the payment, charge any taxes that apply where you live, and issue your receipt. Their terms of sale also apply to the purchase. After payment you receive a licence key by email.

2. Your licence

When you buy a licence you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use the app on up to two computers that you own or control at the same time. You can move the licence to another computer by deactivating it on one first (Licence → Deactivate on this computer).

The app checks the licence online about once a day and keeps working offline for up to 14 days between checks.

3. What you may not do

• Sell, resell, rent, lend, share or give away the app, a copy of it, or your licence key.
• Use one licence on more computers than it allows.
• Copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app, or remove, bypass or interfere with its licence checks, except where the law allows this despite this restriction.
• Use the app on backups you don't have the right to access. Only open backups of your own devices, or ones you have the owner's permission or a legal right to open.

If you break these terms we may deactivate your licence key.

4. Ownership

The app is licensed, not sold. It and its contents remain the property of Abhay Phalswal. Third-party components included in the app are used under their own licences, listed with the app.

5. Your data

The app reads backups on your computer and does not upload them. See the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for keeping your own backups and for any files you save or share with the app.

6. Refunds

See the Refund Policy. When a purchase is refunded, its licence key is deactivated.

7. Updates

We may release updates to fix problems or improve the app. We aren't required to provide any particular update or feature, or to keep supporting older versions of Windows, iOS, Android or WhatsApp backup formats.

8. No warranty

The app is provided "as is". Phone and app makers change their backup formats, and some backups are incomplete, damaged or encrypted in ways no app can read, so we can't promise the app will open every backup or show everything in it. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties beyond those in these terms.

9. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, and our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be limited.

10. Trademarks

iPhone, iTunes and Finder are trademarks of Apple Inc. WhatsApp is a trademark of WhatsApp LLC. Android is a trademark of Google LLC. DRI Backup Buddy is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Meta/WhatsApp, Google or Samsung.

11. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. Changes don't take away rights you already have for a licence you bought. These terms are governed by the laws of India.
